Brain Research in Israel Today: Reality and Vision – Jan 28 5:00PM
Prof. Hochstein will discuss the current state of brain research in Israel.
He will describe some of the basic research being conducted, including his own studies of visual perception,
and talk about a few recent breakthroughs that have or could lead to commercial products.
Professor Shaul Hochstein was elected Director of NIPI in the summer of 2002. He chairs the Hebrew University’s Program in Brain & Behavior, and is also chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Inter-disciplinary Center for Neural Computation. Born in New York, he has worked at Rockefeller University and M.I.T. His research concerns the visual system, memory and learning – in particular, neural-network encoding of perceptual stimulus features and sequence order, cortical mechanisms of perceptual learning, categorization, and the rapid visual encoding of a high-level representation of the perceptual world.
This event will take place at the offices of Burns & Levinson, 125 Summer Street
